1. The nesting knife processes deep holes. Deep holes with larger diameters (usually greater than 50 mm in diameter) should be machined with nesting knives. When the nesting knife used is small in diameter, the overall welded type is mostly used, and when the diameter is large, the assembly type or adjustable type can be used. The cutting tool should be equipped with a wear-resistant insert for guiding. Its material can be bakelite, hard alloy, rolling bearing, etc. The design of the cutting edge should also consider chip separation and chip breaking. It is also suitable for mass production.

2. The long-handled twist drill is processed on a general-purpose machine tool. The long handle twist drill is to weld the long handle on the ordinary twist drill. Because the axial force is large during drilling, the two edges of the drill are not easy to grind symmetrically, the grinding quality of the chisel edge of the drill is not easy to guarantee, and the rigidity of the cutter bar is poor, so it is easy to vibrate during processing, and the center line of the hole is prone to deflection. The chip space is limited. In order to remove chips and cool the tool, it is necessary to withdraw the drill bit after machining a certain length (usually 5~10 mm). For a spindle with a long axial hole, the method of drilling from both ends should be selected. Therefore, this deep hole processing method has poor quality, low productivity, and high labor intensity. However, because its tool manufacturing is simple and general-purpose equipment can be used, it is often used in single-piece and small-batch production.

3. Choose a deep hole drill to process on a special deep hole drilling machine. The use of deep hole drilling to process deep holes better solves the problems of tool deviation, tool cooling and chip breaking and chip removal in deep hole machining, and significantly improves the processing quality and productivity. It can process 10~30 deep holes. For deep hole processing machine tools, special deep hole drilling machines can be selected, and ordinary lathes can also be modified.
