The most difficult part in the processing of compressor impellers is the closed impeller. The closed impeller is composed of a wheel cover, a hub and blades, and its shape, structure and processing technology are extremely complex. Below, the editor will introduce to you the difficulties in processing the compressor impeller.
The machining of compressor impellers must not only meet the geometrical requirements, but also ensure the surface quality of the blades. The space between adjacent blades and between the blades and the wheel cover is small, the impeller cavity is too deep, it is not easy to remove chips, and the cutter axis vector is more constrained, which is easy to dry.
Difficult materials for compressor impeller processing. The closed impeller is made of 15-5PH steel. Closed impellers generally work under high temperature and high pressure environment for a long time, so there are strict requirements on their materials. 15-5PH steel has the best comprehensive mechanical properties: yield strength Rp0.2530~625MPa, tensile strength Rm1050~1070MPa, impact value akv113~115J/cm. These parameters fully reflect the difficult cutting coefficient of the closed impeller.
Difficult tool selection for compressor impeller machining. Due to the large size of the processed closed impeller and the deep cavity, the material is difficult to cut. Therefore, the choice of tools is particularly important. The maximum handle length is 165 mm and the shank extension is 165 mm. The length of the knife handle and the knife shaft is about 330mm (diameter 20R1 tungsten steel anti-vibration knife shaft). The finishing tool is a lollipop ball cutter (diameter 14R7).
